If you’re someone who loves ↓
smooth, moisturized skin + being eco-conscious = lotion bars are deff going to be your thing
Lotion bars are a convenient skincare product that allows easy portability and there’s zero risk of spilling. You don’t need to worry about accidental spills in your carry on, and you definitely don’t need to cut open a bottle to scrape out every last drop of product. You just need a cute tin to store it in for travel, and you’re good to go.
Think about them being another version of shampoo & conditioner bars.
It’s made with equal parts wax, butter and oil, which then allows the product to maintain its shape of whatever mold you pour it in. If you don’t feel like incurring an addition cost on molds, you can use cupcake liners!
The beauty with lotion bars, is you can literally choose any butter and oil and enjoy experimenting to what works best for you skin type. You can refer to a previous post, “Slip, Slide And Glide With Skin That’s Dried” and go from there!
One thing to keep in mind when making these bars, is that if you choose a soft butter, the oil can overtake the consistency and the wax may not be enough to form a solid bar. This can result in the bar bending and too much product distribution during application Taking weather into account as well, in warmer climates it would be best to use a harder butter like cocoa (in this recipe) to withstand the humidity and heat.
Lotion bars when made to your preference and needs, can be an amazing staple to your skin. If you’re willing to go a little extra and infuse the oils or butters in herbs that have specific skin condition benefits, then go for it!
*TIP- I love using these bars on freshly shaven skin, and especially for try elbows and knees
